Megan Aylett (on leave)
Lawyer
Megan completed her Bachelor of Laws at Deakin University in early 2019. Following this, she undertook her Practical Legal Training at the College of Law. Megan was admitted to practise as an Australian lawyer in June 2020. Since that time, she has represented clients in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia in relation to parenting and property matters and in the Magistrate’s Court of Victoria in relation to Intervention Order matters. Megan completed the requisite training across 2022 and obtained her Principal’s Practising Certificate in January 2023.
Prior to legal practise, Megan worked for eight years at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) across a number of jurisdictions including Planning and Environment, Civil Claims, Domestic Building and Guardianship. Here she recognised the value in alternative methods of dispute resolution when dealing with conflict; gaining skills that would become invaluable as a lawyer. At VCAT Megan also undertook a number of leadership roles; working on process improvement initiatives, managing teams and staff development. A decision to move her young family to Geelong in 2016 saw Megan obtain a position at the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) where she worked as a Support Coordinator for three years; gaining experience within the social insurance and disability sector.
Megan is a great communicator and a problem solver. She has a practical and common sense approach to dispute resolution. Megan particularly enjoys appearing in property and parenting mediations; empowering clients to achieve positive and future focused outcomes they can live with.
Her areas of practice include:
- Family Law property and children’s matters;
- Divorce;
- Wills and Powers of Attorney;
- Deceased Estates/Probate;
- Conveyancing; and
- Intervention Orders.
